The visitors made light work of a tricky playing surface by producing a controlled and dominant performance, keeping Spelthorne on the back foot for the majority of the game. It took twelve minutes for Rayners to get their noses in front when Manny Folarin crossed for Bradley Bubb to volley in at the back post and they never really looked back for the rest of the game. Less than ten minutes later Rayners Lane doubled their lead when some good movement from Sean Shields saw him run onto a clever pass from Frank Keita and he made no mistake with his finish. The game then fell into a pattern of Rayners having plenty of possession and controlling proceedings although on the 30th minute Spelthorne did manage their only effort on goal of the game when Jack Smith saved well with his feet. The visitors got their third five minutes before the break when Sean Shields chipped a pass into the path of Bradley Bubb and he rifled home for his second of the evening to give Rayners a three goal cushion at the interval. The second half continued with more of the same as Spelthorne appeared to go for damage limitation, with no real ambition to get back into the game. It made for a low key second 45 minutes, although things brightened up with the introduction of live wire winger Rio Connell. His runs caused a few problems in the home defence and they eventually succumbed when he finished a mazy run and slotted past the keeper. Rayners then continued to create chances but were unable to put the finishing to some good approach play and had to settle for a four goal winning margin and moved into the next round.
