One more before it's real: The Lane face Met Police to close out pre-season
The countdown is on. With the 2026/27 season now just around the corner, Rayners Lane close out pre-season this Saturday with a final friendly away to Metropolitan Police — and the mood around the club could hardly be better. It's been a promising summer, and Tuesday night added to it: another pre-season win, this time over Aylesbury United, sending the lads into the weekend on a real buzz. The performances are coming together, the new faces are bedding in, and the squad looks sharper every week. Saturday's hosts are proper opposition to test ourselves against. Metropolitan Police FC — founded in 1919 for officers and staff of the Met — are one of non-league's most established and characterful clubs. They play their football at Imber Court in East Molesey, a 3,000-capacity ground they've called home for decades, and they've long been a fixture of the Isthmian League. A team with over a century of history is exactly the kind of side you want in your final hit-out before the real thing. One more friendly. One more chance to fine-tune. Then it counts. This Saturday · Kick-off 3:00 PM · Imber Court, East Molesey · Pre-season friendly. Get behind the boys as we sign off pre-season the right way. Up the Lane. 💛💚
